Adoptable Greyhounds

These are our available foster dogs. If you are interested in adopting a greyhound, please fill out an application, and we will contact you to begin the process. Please note that while the dogs on here are technically available, someone else may also be looking at the same dog; therefore, we suggest you look at several that you think might fit into your household. Also, as part of the screening process, we will determine what personality would best fit into your home, so while you may find a particular dog very striking to you, he or she may not be a good fit. If you have any questions about the process, you can read more about it here.

We have a few special foster greyhounds who are looking for just the right home. You can see their profiles here.

There are 39 adoptable greyhounds.

Louise Group:
Hi folks, I'm Louise (AKA Kewel Rain*) a sweet Irish lassie. They found me in the Bakersfield shelter with my pal Thelma, who had a broken leg. I last raced in Corpus Christie Texas and the folks that took us from there were not very nice to us. I just love to roll around in the grass and play with stuffies. One of my favorite activities is when my foster mom takes me on our daily 5 mile walk. That is really fun...you get to see lots of small, fuzzy things. Although I really like living here, I still would like my forever home. I have put my shelter and Texas experiences behind me now and it is time to get on with my life....how about it, can you help?

Windy Group:
I'm Windy (AKA Kc Witchy) and I was given to GPA by my forever family. My leg was broken when they picked me up at the Portland track in Feb.03 and was never fixed. GPA has had my leg operated on and I am ready to go to my forever home. I'm a beautiful light brindle girl and love everyone.

Moonstone Group: CA Beaches
I'm Moonstone (AKA Chi Baci), a 5 year old girl with some stories to tell, but mostly looking to start a whole new fairytale life as a retired doggie. I am enjoying retirement after a long career at the track. I don't mind small dogs, but kitties drive me nuts. I have been living with several greyhounds and get along well with them. I really like the squeaky toys the best but sometimes I will chase a ball.

Ray Group:
Hi, I'm Ray (AKA Flying Newline) and I finished my racing career with a broken leg. Doe and Mimi were picked up by GPA with broken legs with me. GPA fixed our legs and I lived years with small dogs and cats until my mom returned me. I live with the greatest foster mom of all time, but it would be nice to have a forever home. Can you help me out? I will love you forever.

Kelvin Group: Scientists
My Name is Kelvin and they put me on bed rest when I came off the track...seems that I pulled a muscle trying not to come in last. I love people and children and small dogs and cats. My foster dad says that I am fun and goofy and like a gangly teenager. I am a busy guy looking for a home so that we all can have some fun. Are you ready? I sure am.

Watt Group: Scientists
My name is Watt and I am one of the Mt. SAC dogs. My foster parents were the 2007 Volunteers of the Year, so you know how well trained I'll be when I go to your home. I am outgoing, friendly and very, very affectionate. I love to play with other greyhounds....not good with small things. I have always wondered why people have those small things.
